Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Pacific History (University of Auckland)

The Department of History invites applications for a permanent appointment in Pacific History, at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level.  The successful applicant will join a dynamic department with a commitment to thematic, transnational and/or comparative historical research and training. We have expertise in New Zealand history, Maori and indigenous histories, pre-modern and modern Europe, United States history, and the histories of East Asia and Australia, with particular strengths in sexual histories, the history of medicine, and the medieval and early modern world.  History is located within the Faculty of Arts, with a close relationship to the Centre of Pacific Studies.

Applicants should have a completed PhD, publications and experience in University-level teaching. We are particularly interested in, though do not require, applicants whose conception of the Pacific world embraces New Zealand.

We request initially a letter of application, curriculum vitae and the names of three academic referees. Shortlisted applicants will be asked to submit written work and to attend an interview. Applications close 9 June 2013.
