New tools in mapping for disasters and development

GFDRR Innovation Series: On May 3, 2012, around 200 mapping experts and development professionals from 70 organisations met for a workshop on free and open source geographic information system (GIS) mapping tools. Convened by the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) and InterAction in partnership with the World Bank Institute (WBI), the aim of the Innovation Series is to share information and build knowledge to create new opportunities for strengthening disaster risk reduction, humanitarian relief and sustainable development. A key component of this work is the Open Data for Resilience Initiative (OpenDRI).

Disaster Risk Management programs (DRM) and Climate Adaptation profiles are featured as part of the GFDRR Country Programs which may be accessed through the GFDRR’s interactive map of priority program areas.
